Why Replace Missing Teeth?

Types of Restorations
The type of replacement teeth your dentist will use depends on how many teeth you are replacing.
If your dentist is only replacing a single tooth, he will use an implant-supported crown. A single-tooth implant replaces the missing tooth roots and does not require altering to the surrounding (abutment) teeth the way traditional bridges do.
When several teeth are missing, your dentist will likely recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge literally bridges a gap in your smile. Unlike traditional bridges, implant-supported bridges do not need the support of abutment teeth.
When all of your teeth are missing, your dentist can replace them with implant-supported dentures. Since the implants fuse to the jawbone, the dentures will be sturdy enough to function just like your natural teeth.
Patients who have dentures or need dentures; can be candidates for the All-on-4® technique. This term refers to “all” teeth on a dental arch being supported “on 4” dental implants. The implant denture is fixed in place and gives the patient confidence and the ability to eat almost anything. With this technique, the implants and restorations are placed in one day.

Routine Dental Visits
To extend the life of your prosthesis and maintain the health of your implants, regular visits to our dental office once every six months, or as prescribed by your dental professional, should be continued. Keeping your natural teeth healthy is incredibly important in maintaining your overall oral health.
At-Home Care
Your dental professional will give you a care routine so you can maintain your oral health between visits to our Cincinnati office. This typically involves brushing twice daily and flossing once a day, but other practices may be required depending on your individual needs. Both actions can be performed as usual with crowns, bridges, or dentures.
